Terms of Service
These terms cover the TChess Android app (app.tchess) and the TChess website and web app at tchess.app. By using TChess you agree to them.
1. What TChess is
TChess is a chess training app: puzzles, lessons, opponents to play against, and analysis. It is provided free of charge. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no advertising.
2. Your account is optional
TChess works fully without an account. Everything — the puzzles, the engine, your rating and your progress — runs on your device.
Signing in does exactly one thing: it copies your rating, streak, experience and per-theme progress to our server so the same figures appear on your other devices. It unlocks no features, because no feature is locked.
You are responsible for the security of the email account you sign in with. Anyone with access to that inbox can sign in as you.
3. Acceptable use
Do not:
- attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service or to other people’s accounts;
- use automated means to manipulate ratings, streaks or leaderboards;
- redistribute the app modified, or present it as your own.
We may suspend an account that does any of these. Because the app works signed out, a suspension does not stop you using TChess on your own device.
4. Your content and your data
You keep everything you create. We claim no rights over your games, your analysis or your progress. What we store and why is set out in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
You can delete everything held on our servers at any time — see here.
5. Third-party material
- Puzzles come from the Lichess open database, released under CC0 (public domain).
- Piece artwork is Colin M.L. Burnett’s set, CC BY-SA 3.0.
Their licences govern their material and are not superseded by these terms.
6. Availability
TChess is provided as-is. We do not promise it will be available without interruption, that sync will always succeed, or that it will be free of defects. The app is designed so that none of that stops you playing: everything works offline, and a failed sync is retried rather than surfaced as an error.
7. No warranty
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TChess is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of TChess, including loss of data or of progress. TChess is a free chess app; please do not rely on it as the only copy of anything you care about. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
9. Ending it
You can stop using TChess at any time. Uninstalling removes everything stored on your device. To delete data held on our servers, use the deletion form.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date above changes when we do, and material changes are noted in the app under Settings → About → What’s new. Continuing to use TChess after a change means you accept it.
11. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Pakistan, without regard to conflict of law rules.
